Meet the people behind xRTML and what makes them tick.
Sérgio Costa
VP for xRTML
"I've been working as a web developer since 1999, always trying to improve myself as a programmer and to provide users with a better experience. When we started working with real time web at IBT, we soon realized the potential of the technology and how everyone would like to work with it. xRTML then kind of came out naturally from the need to give developers the tools for them to easily build their own real time web applications. xRTML is my baby and while assembling the development team I have the pleasure to work with today, I tried to find people that would be as passionate as myself on bringing this new technology and this great language to life."

"My passion for technology has drived me to enrol in a Computer Science university course. During my carreer I have worked in financial services using Siebel, JavaScript and HTML, which I enjoyed, but still something was missing... That's when the challenge I was waiting for came... Working in a young and dynamic team as part of the process of developing a new technology that will surely revolutionize the way we look at the internet. So far this is being a wonderfull experience and I believe that from here it can only get better."

"I'm a coder, a developer. Most of the times, a problem solver, some of the times a trouble maker. I'm constantly eager to learn and master new technologies, and my day isn't over when I punch out the clock. I obsess with code and algorithms. I dream about them and sometimes I wake up with a totally new approach for an impossible problem I've been having. I love my life and wouldn't dream of doing anything else."

"From the beginning I had a huge fascination about finding solutions and build something different. As a child I used to spend a lot of hours imagining ways to create different things with the same LEGO bricks (good times ...), which had a huge influence in my career choices. In IT there is room to develop new things, choose different solutions and help organize and simplify processes. In my short experience I had the good fortune of working in very different paradigms, such as web services or data integration, and different enterprises, from small to large, namely banks and governmental institutions, which allowed me to meet different realities and have a wide vision. Recently I had the opportunity to work on a new technology with huge potential, Realtime®, and I am extremely excited about this challenge because I like the feeling of being involved in something that can change how the people interact with web pages."

"I’m fortunate enough to be a Java developer amongst 30 or so .NET enthusiats... For those of you feeling sorry for me, JavaScript is the house trade and I was always very passionate about it, so whenever I can I prefer the flexibility of JS rather than any other language and that has been very usefull to my task of helping create the building blocks of xRTML. I have 5 years of experience working mostly in Java based web development and was fortunate enough to work with great minds in this area such as Marcus Green from whom I learned how to appreciate the challenge of dealing with the complex paradigms behind web applications architecture. And I couldn’t have come across a more exciting challenge than xRTML, I honestly believe in this language and am putting all the eggs in one basket, but I believe this will be the first truly great technology revolution coming from Portugal so I want to be a part of it."

Interactive Designer
"My first digital graphic tool was Art Studio, in ZX Spectrum, where I've found a true love with pixels. After some experience in graphic design, I started developing for the internet industry where I became interested in open source, web standards and optimization. Currently I'm proud to be part of this great team at xRTML, providing visual and technological solutions combined and trying to contribute at my very best achieving great results to this project."

Since the beginning of my career, I went through different areas. From healthcare to advertising industries, passing through communication and business intelligence. I’ve always wanted to learn more not only technically but also and in terms of business. By integrating the IBT development team for the xRTML, I have the opportunity to, not only develop for a new emerging technology, but also to create nem features for that same new technology. And that is very challenging personally and professionally. I describe myself as dreamer, creative and sometimes stubborn. But my team can always count on me.

"Well, when I was a kid I wanted to become a Marine Biologist but then I grew up and found out that fishes are a lot bigger outside the aquarium. Not only had that scared me a lot I also never really learned how to swim. Lost and disappointed, I came across a thing called 'computers'. Curious, I started learning it which led me here nowadays. So I guess this is the thing that most fulfills me professionally. Like traveling is my favourite hobby. I've been a software developer for 3 and half years mainly focused on web applications done in a .NET environment. Always eager for new challenges I chose to take this opportunity given to me because I strongly believed that the work we'd be doing with xRTML and the rest of the Realtime® Framework would introduce a new web concept. This still stands true today."

"I’ve always been very fascinated with computer science and for that reason I’ve graduated in computer engineering. I’ve finished my graduation in 2011, being the newbie element of the team. All my formation was focused in Java technologies, but being involved in the framework gave me knowledge in JavaScript, HTML, CSS and a bit of ASP.Net. I consider myself a fast learner and I try to take full advantage of my partners experience to evolve professionally.I find myself in a project with maybe more potential than I imagine, and I hope, as all team members of the framework, that this project is going to revolutionize the way we use and see the internet."
